- In order to get service from the tutors, you must show your student ID card.
- Any draft you take to the Writing Room needs to be keyboarded and double-spaced.
- The person responsible for the written work is the only one who can bring it to the Writing Room. You cannot ask a friend, a relative, a classmate, or any other person to get the tutoring service for you. Each student is given evidence of having taken the written work to the Writing Room himself/herself: (a) a short paper with the tutor's and student's names and (b) revisions or corrections to the draft used to get tutoring service in red. For this reason, there is no way someone other than you can get the tutoring service. Beware!
- Do not use any online translator to create or finish an assigned written work. If you do, the tutors from the Writing Room have the right to decline or reject offering you any tutoring service whatsoever. Please, avoid this type of situation. Rely on your own English skills. Even if you think that your skills are not the best, they are much better than any automatic translator out there.
- If the professor gives you a set of instructions, feel free to take them with you during a tutoring session to make sure that the tutor knows what he/she needs to focus on when revising your written work.
- Do not ask tutors to finish a written work for you. Their responsibility is to become part of your audience and help you improve your writing by giving you feedback, recommendations, or suggestions. They are not there to help you create a written work, finish an assignment, or correct meticulously. You are responsible to do your own work, and the professor is responsible of providing meticulous and careful revisions for it. Please, remember that the English tutors from the Writing Room are students just like you. They are there to help you as much as possible, but you need to do your part as well. This way, the tutoring experience will be successful and very productive.
